“ Upon referral of a friend and ignoring the negative reviews, my wife & I rec'd a warm welcome from staff. My liver & onions with plenty of gravy arrived sizzling hot & chose side of collard greens & mac & cheese with cornbread. My wife chose chicken w/side of mac & cheese & fries. Both dishes came with rice/gravy. Everything was tasty, hearty portions and reasonably priced. Minor issue the cornbread could of been warmed up. I would recommend trying Mama's before making a judgement on reviews. ”

Just wish we had one in Port Richey, Fl. Kettle chicken and catfish with shrimp... my oh my. Sides were just like home. Let’s not forget the desserts. Diet?? What diet??? “ It's a blessing that I was raised in a time when people actually got along with each other and tried to learn about each other's cultures and traditions. Coming from the Midwest, we always had good family style food around us. Call it Southern or Soul, it all still has to have that one key ingredient...love. Have to say you can get a hint of that in Mama's Soul Food. Yes, they intentionally under season. But, in a world where you can't please everyone, because they don't want to be pleased, they just want to be miserable...sorry, I digress... If you can present offerings that appeal to more than just a few, then so be it. I had the oxtails and she had the cube steak.. We were both super impressed with our meals. Portions were right, flavor was right, Service was friendly, and price was right. No complaints here. We'll certainly be back for more, as there were several more choices that we want to try. Nice job! *Came back for more on Sunday 10/15/23. We both got the smothered pork chops. Simply amazing. Fall apart tender. Able to get all that good on-the-bone meat too. Can't say enough about how good this place is! ”
